Competing Vehicle：DAIHATSU COPEN GR SPORT

 Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Daihatsu”) and SPK Corporation (hereinafter “SPK”) will participate as the D-SPORT Racing Team in the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) Round 7, “FORUM8 Rally Japan 2026,” scheduled to be held from Thursday, May 28 to Sunday, May 31, 2026, competing with the DAIHATSU COPEN GR SPORT.

 The D-SPORT Racing Team will mark its fifth consecutive entry since 2022. At the previous event in 2025, the team challenged the balance between strong performance and environmental responsibility by equipping the vehicle with the KR engine (1,000 cc) and using FIA-designated sustainable fuel. Despite encountering issues during the rally, the team successfully completed the rally. In 2026, marking the final year of Copen production, the team returns to the roots of the Copen as an authentic open-top sports car that is easy for anyone to enjoy. Competing under kei-car regulations, the vehicle will be equipped with the KF engine (660 cc) and adapted for FIA-designated sustainable fuel, pursuing the potential of small and lightweight vehicles. Aligned with the mission to “create ever-better cars through motorsports” and “make the joy of driving accessible to all,” Daihatsu and SPK, as one team, will continue efforts to expand the base of motorsports while advancing vehicle development through competition.
